Terrible Towel Wave to Honor
Cope at Steelers Game
PITTSBURGH
— Steelers fans around the world are
being encouraged to honor retired Steelers radio broadcaster Myron Cope during a
special Terrible Towel™ Wave prior to the team’s Monday Night game versus the
Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field. The wave is scheduled to take place at
9:07
p.m., just prior to
kickoff.
The Greater Pittsburgh Convention &
Visitors Bureau (GPCVB) is urging Steelers fans across the country and around
the world to show their appreciation for Cope by participating in what is
projected to be the largest simultaneous Terrible Towel™ Wave to
date.
“It’s the perfect way to honor Myron
Cope’s 35 years of service in the Steelers radio broadcast booth and kick off
our nationally televised game against a division opponent,” said Steelers
President Art Rooney.
The Steelers officially designated the
game to honor Myron Cope who created the Terrible Towel™ in the
1970s.
