Former Steelers defensive lineman and member of the Steel Curtain L.C. Greenwood
will chair the 19th Annual
Gatorade/Steelers 5K Race, Fitness Walk and Kids' Kickoff Run on Labor Day
Weekend, Sunday, September 2, at 9:30 a.m. at Heinz Field. The race will be part
of the Steelers Kickoff Week festivities at Heinz Field, including the annual
Coors Light Kickoff Rib and Music Festival.

The
race, which benefits the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund, is a competitive event
sanctioned by USA Track and Field with a 3.1-mile level course on the North Side
highlighted by a spectacular finish on the warning track in Heinz Field.
Gatorade is the
title sponsor of the race. Major sponsors include Giant Eagle, KDKA-TV 2,
WDVE-FM, and Sony.
The
Art Rooney Scholarship Fund, which was established in memory of the late founder
of the Steelers who died in August of 1988 after living most of his life on the
North Side. A $12,000 scholarship in Art Rooney's name is presented annually to
a graduating senior from each of the three high schools on the North Side
— Oliver, Perry and North Catholic. Each school nominates
three students who have been accepted to college and are in need of financial
aid.
