Chesney Has Special Offer For Shift Workers
Chesney wanted to do
something special for the folks in Pittsburgh and the Tri-State area, for
the working fans that may find their money a little tight these days by
creating a special Shiftwork Section.
With tickets priced under $50, anyone who wants to
come when Chesney plays Heinz Field can come. It was the kind of thing
that has defined the songwriter from
Lutrell,
Tennessee
's rise from struggling hard country
singer to the people's superstar.
"You look at the
people in the Mini Mart, who're driving trucks or working in hospitals, and you
realize, the money just doesn't go as far as it did a year ago," Chesney
admits softly. "I've always been about keeping the prices down, everyone
knows that 'cause I want anyone who wants to be part of the party to be able and
come out"
Started by the
success of the program in for his July 5th show last year in Tennessee,
Chesney got to thinking. Why couldn't he do Shiftwork sections in a
lot of markets?
"I was fillin' up my
truck," Chesney explains, "and the numbers just kept going. I'd been
thinking about something else when I noticed them spinning around, and it hit
me. This really is the right thing to do. You watch the news, you
hear the stories...but when it translates to your own gas tank, and then you
think about all the people out there like my Mom, who's a hair dresser, well,
what else can you do?"
The special priced
tickets are available now at all Ticketmaster outlets for $49.00 for the
Corona Extra sponsored Poets & Pirates 2008 Tour featuring Kenny Chesney and
Keith Urban, plus special guests LeAnn Rimes, Gary Allan and Luke Bryan and
whoever else happens to show up, as is often the case when Kenny hits the
road.
"Come on out.
Come hear some music and forget about what's bothering you for a bit," he
says honestly. "We can't change all the problems, but we can at least
enjoy the day and each other. Sometimes that's all you need."
