21-of-34 passes for 240 yards, one TD and one interceptions…compiled an 80.5

2002: 9/29 vs. Cleveland: Led the Steelers on two
scoring drives, one the game-winning field goal in overtime, to rally the
Steelers to a come-from-behind victory…completed his first 6-of-seven passes to
march the Steelers to their only TD of the game…completed11-of-13 passes for 122
yards, one TD and one interception for a 99.4 passer rating. 10/6 at New
Orleans: Made his first start in nearly 10 years (Dec. 12, 1992 at
Buffalo)…completed 22-of-38 passes for 268 yards, three TDs and one
interception. 10/13 at Cincinnati: Had another solid performance to lead the
offense to his first NFL victory as a starting quarterback…completed 16-of-25
passes for 216 yards, one TD and two interceptions, his second straight 200-yard
passing performance. 10/21 vs. Indianapolis: Started the game strongly, complete
nine of his first 12 pass attempts, while leading the Steelers on three straight
scoring drives…completed 15-of-23 passes for 188 yards with two TDs and one

solid day, completing his first 11 passes…suffered an ankle injury but returned

rating or better in his five starts. 11/17 at Tennessee: Had his most difficult
day since inserted as the starting quarterback, despite hitting Hines Ward on a
72-yard TD pass on the first offensive play of the game…completed 14-of-28
passes for 194 yards and one TD with a season-high three interceptions…compiled
a season-low 44.9 passer rating…suffered what later were diagnosed as a cerebral
and spinal concussion that caused him to loose movement in his upper and lower
extremities…lay motionless on the field and taken from the field by

served as the backup quarterback. 12/8 vs. Houston: Had his worst day as a
Steelers, committing three turnovers (two interceptions and a fumble), all of
which were returned for Houston TD…threw for 325 yard and completed 30-of-57
passes (52.6)…set a team record with 57 pass attempts…compiled a passer rating
of 55.1…also ran twice for six yards. 12/15 vs. Carolina: Seemingly returned his
efficient play despite suffering an early interception when Plaxico Burress

Cleveland: Overcame two early interceptions to throw for a team-postseason
record 367 yards, eclipsing Neil O’Donnell’s record 349 yards (1/15/95 vs. San
Diego)…completed 30-of-48 passes, the second and third highest, respectively, in
Steelers’ postseason history. 1/11 at Tennessee: Rallied the Steelers once again
from this time from a 14-0 deficit to nearly upset the Titans…finished with 266
yards on 21-of-41 passes with two TDs and an interception…threw his interception
on the team’s first offensive series when Plaxico Burress slipped…compiled a

2001: 9/9 at Jacksonville: Served as backup

did not play. 10/29 vs. Tennessee: Saw his first game action…completed his only
pass attempt, a 57-yard completion to Troy Edwards. . 1/6/02 vs. Cleveland:
Played his most significant action of the season…completed six-of-eight passes
for 97 yards, one TD and an interception, including a 40-yard TD pass to Bobby
Shaw…also ran once for eight yards.
2000: Started at quarterback for the New Jersey Red
Dogs of the Arena Football League…threw for 3,800 yards, 64 touchdowns and 15
interceptions…did not play from 1997-'99…was self-employed…owned his own
insurance agencies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

1993: Played in every game for the Denver Broncos as
a holder on placekicks…completed his only pass of the season for a one-yard
touchdown to linebacker Dave Wyman on a fake field-goal attempt at San Diego
(12/5).
1992: Was selected by the Broncos in the first round
(25th overall) of the NFL Draft…started in four games during his rookie season
due to an injury to starter John Elway…started in place of Elway in Weeks 11
through 14…ended the season having completed 66-of-121 passes for 757 yards,
five touchdowns and nine interceptions…against Washington (10/12), became the
youngest quarterback (21 years, 2 months) to throw a pass in the NFL since Elmar
Angsman of the Chicago Cardinals in 1946…earned first career NFL start against
the Raiders (11/22) and completed 18-of-26 passes for 207 yards…threw his first
career touchdown pass against Seattle (11/27), connecting with WR Mark
Jackson…was the second quarterback selected in the 1992 draft after David
Klingler (Cincinnati Bengals).
COLLEGE: Was a two-year starter at UCLA…led Bruins
to a 9-3 record and a victory in the John Hancock Bowl in 1991…earned first-team
All America honors following his sophomore year…became the first Pac-10 player
to have passed for at least 5,000 yards by the end of his sophomore year…ended
collegiate career with 5,363 yards by completing 391-of-670 passes with 33
touchdowns…declared for the NFL Draft after his sophomore season…majored in
